Avd Lab: the magnesium age is here

The metal is used to produce special aluminum/magnesium alloys for the helicopter, aeronautical and missile construction industries. It is also used in the automobile sector to make elements that must have special physical properties, such as extreme strength and shock resistance. In fact, weight-for-weight, the material’s resistance to torsion is superior to that of any other metal.

Thanks to its abundance in nature, magnesium is also biodegradable, a characteristic that complies with the ethical principles of the company and the designer.

Two years of research, experimentation and considerable human and financial resources were required to arrive at the presentation of this project. The combination of this natural element and the designer’s extraordinary creativity has led to new eyewear in the AVD LAB collection: model 8115 is the first in the world to be made in magnesium.

Presented in two eye shapes, the main characteristics of this new concept include extreme lightness - magnesium is one-third lighter that titanium – which guarantees product performance that has never been achieved till now.
